  It is the second longest river in Malaysia, with a length of 560 kilometers from its headwaters in the mountains of southwest Sabah, to its outlet at the Sulu Sea, east of Sandakan.

The Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre was set up in 1964 to rehabilitate orphaned baby orang utan. Set in the lush 4,300-hectare Kabili-Sepilok Forest Reserve, the Centre under the administration of the Wildlife Department of Sabah attracts tourists and researchers alike, giving them the opportunity to watch the orang utan up close in their natural habitat. A boardwalk leads you to a viewing gallery and feeding platform where the apes are fed milk and bananas twice a day at 10.00am and 3.00pm by rangers. Feeding time also attracts long-tailed macaques to the area. Stretching 560km from the Crocker Range in the southwest of Sabah to the Sulu Sea in the east, the Kinabatangan River sustains one of the world's richest ecosystems. The surrounding areas along the river consist of five distinct habitats - dipterocarp or dry, waterlogged and limestone forests, and freshwater and saline swamps. The lower basin of the river itself is the largest forest covered floodplain in Malaysia and has the largest concentration of wildlife in the South East Asian region

Itinerary

Day 1 Lunch / Dinner

• 0800 hrs Pick up from hotel in Sandakan or meet upon arrival at the Sandakan Airport (preferably on MH2042 ETA 0810hrs). Drive for approximately 30 minutes to Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Center. Proceed to the free roaming area feeding platform. 1000 hrs feeding of Orang Utans. At this center, observe man's closest relative "the Orang Utan" being rehabilitated to become wild in their natural habitat and experience a walk in the Tropical Lowland Dipterocarp Forest of Borneo.
• 1130hrs : After meet the Orang Utan, transfer to Meeting point at Medan Selera Coffee Shop, Kota Kinabatangan. Take about 1 ?hours drive
• 1330hrs: Meet and great by our Representative and transfer to the lodge located at the lower kinabatangan river sanctuary
• 1500hrs: Arrive at the lodge. Welcome drinks and orientation
• 1600hrs: Evening river cruise to sight wildlife along the Kinabatangan
• 1800hrs: Back to lodge, freshen up & dinner
• 2000hrs: Night trekking in the wilderness of the jungle to spot nocturnal animals
• 2130hrs: Back to lodge
• 2200hrs: Light out and overnight at the lodge ( Dorm / Chalet )

Day 2 Breakfast

• 0530hrs: Wake up to the calls of gibbons and birds. Morning river cruise
• 0730hrs: Back to lodge. Breakfast
• 0830hrs: Check out of lodge and transfer to Medan Selera Coffee Shop Kota Kinabatangan.
• 1030hrs: Transfer from Meeting point to Sandakan Airport or Sandakan Town.
